Architecture and artwork

Architecture and artwork

The church is a single-nave stone structure with masonry of stone slabs and brick, featuring entrances on the western and southern sides. Nearly the entire interior is covered with vibrant frescoes depicting saints, Gospel scenes, and liturgical figures; these paintings are widely attributed to Onufri or his artistic circle and are especially admired for their vivid colors and expressive composition.

Why it stands out

What distinguishes Kisha e Shën Kollit is the exceptional preservation of its interior paintings. Together with other churches decorated by Onufri and his workshop, it offers an important window into the development of Albanian sacred art during the 16th century and remains one of the country's most valuable cultural landmarks.
