Maja e Jezercës is the highest peak of the Accursed Mountains (Albanian Alps) and one of Albania's most dramatic alpine landmarks. Rising to 2,694 meters (8,839 feet) in northern Albania near Tropojë, it is widely regarded as one of the country's premier mountaineering destinations because of its rugged terrain, striking limestone scenery, and demanding ascents.
Landscape and setting

Maja e Jezercës stands within a spectacular karst landscape of limestone cliffs, glacial cirques, scree slopes, and narrow ridges. The mountain lies between the Valbonë and Shala valleys and is surrounded by numerous neighboring peaks that together form the heart of the Albanian Alps. Glacial activity carved deep basins such as Buni i Jezercës, where small alpine lakes and dramatic rock walls create some of the country's most impressive mountain scenery.
