Gjipe Beach

Known for the Gjipe Canyon and ideal for adventure and camping.

Gjipe Beach is a secluded coastal cove on the Albanian Riviera, located near Himarë in Vlorë County where the dramatic Gjipe Canyon opens into the Ionian Sea. Known for its towering limestone cliffs, crystal-clear turquoise water, and limited access, it is widely regarded as one of Albania's most distinctive natural attractions.

Access

Access

A key part of Gjipe's appeal is that it cannot be reached directly by road. Most visitors arrive either by hiking from the parking area above the canyon—typically a 30–45 minute walk—or by boat from Himarë and nearby coastal settlements. This restricted access helps preserve the beach's relatively undeveloped atmosphere even during the summer season.

Activities and Experience

Activities and Experience

Swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, photography, and canyon exploration are among the most popular activities. Small sea caves can be explored near the cliffs, and hikers often venture inland through the canyon itself. Basic seasonal services such as refreshments and beach equipment rentals may be available, but facilities remain limited compared with more developed Riviera beaches.
