It is best known for its dramatic sand dunes cascading down the slopes of Mount Renci toward the sea, creating one of the country's most distinctive coastal landscapes and a popular destination for beachgoers, hikers, and photographers.
Highlights

The main attraction is Rana e Hedhun itself: a wide sandy beach backed by towering dunes, some reaching around 80 meters in height. The combination of golden sand, clear Adriatic water, and relatively undeveloped surroundings makes it stand out from many other beaches along Albania's coastline. The protected area covers approximately six hectares and has been recognized as a natural monument since 2002.
Experience

Visitors typically come to swim, relax on the beach, climb the dunes for panoramic views, or walk along the shoreline. The beach is generally quieter than the main beach in Shëngjin, particularly outside peak summer afternoons, making it attractive for travelers seeking a more peaceful atmosphere. Basic seasonal amenities such as beach bars, sunbeds, and umbrellas are available, while the town of Shëngjin offers additional restaurants, hotels, and services nearby.
Location and Access

Rana e Hedhun lies about 4–5 km northwest of Shëngjin in Lezhë County. It is reachable by car from Shëngjin in roughly 10 minutes, followed in some areas by a short walk depending on where you park and which section of the beach you wish to visit. The attraction is open year-round, though the warm months from late spring through early autumn are the most popular for swimming and beach activities.
Why It Stands Out

Unlike most Adriatic beaches, Rana e Hedhun features a rare landscape where wind has piled sand against a mountainside, giving the impression that the mountain is "pouring" into the sea. This unusual geology, combined with expansive coastal views and protected natural status, makes it one of northern Albania's most recognizable natural landmarks.
