The Muzeu Kombëtar i Arsimit (National Museum of Education) is a historic museum in Korçë dedicated to the origins of Albanian-language education. It occupies the building where the first official Albanian-language school, known as Mësonjëtorja, opened on March 7, 1887, making it one of Albania's most significant cultural and educational landmarks.

Historical significance

The museum is housed in a preserved 19th-century building that originally belonged to the patriot Diamanti Tërpo, who donated it for use as the first Albanian school. During the late Ottoman period, the building briefly served as a prison before returning to educational use, and in 1967 it was officially converted into the National Museum of Education. Today it is protected as a Monument of Culture in Albania.

Collections

Visitors can explore exhibits documenting the development of Albanian education, literacy, and publishing. Highlights include early Albanian alphabets created by Naum Veqilharxhi and Kostandin Kristoforidhi, historic textbooks, manuscripts, classroom materials, portraits of teachers and national figures, and a reconstructed headmaster's office based on historical memoirs. These collections illustrate the struggle to establish education in the Albanian language during the country's national awakening.
