Kanioni i Langaricës is a dramatic river canyon near Përmet in southern Albania, carved by the Lengarica River through limestone cliffs over millions of years. It is one of the country's best-known natural attractions, valued for its striking scenery, outdoor adventure opportunities, and proximity to historic and geothermal landmarks.
Landscape

The canyon stretches for roughly 5 kilometers, with rock walls rising up to about 150 meters in many sections. Crystal-clear water, narrow passages, and sculpted limestone formations create a landscape that changes throughout the year, making it popular for photography, hiking, and river exploration.
What to Experience

Visitors typically begin their walk near the 18th-century Ottoman Ura e Kadiut, then follow the river into the gorge. Depending on seasonal water levels, activities include wading, canyoning, kayaking, and leisurely walks through the canyon. Nearby, the naturally warm Bënja Thermal Baths provide a popular place to relax after exploring.
Nature and History

Beyond its geological beauty, the canyon has ecological and archaeological importance. Caves along its cliffs have yielded evidence of prehistoric human occupation, while the surrounding valley supports diverse plant and animal life. The canyon also forms part of the broader Vjosa river landscape, an area recognized for its exceptional natural value.
