Banjat Termale të Benjës are a natural complex of mineral-rich thermal pools near Përmet in southern Albania. Set beside the dramatic Lengarica Canyon and the historic Kadiu stone bridge, they are among the country's best-known outdoor hot springs, attracting visitors for both relaxation and the surrounding scenery.
What makes the site special

The springs emerge naturally into a series of small stone pools, with water temperatures generally ranging from about 22–28°C. The mineral water is traditionally associated with therapeutic benefits, although such claims are based largely on local tradition rather than definitive clinical evidence. The combination of warm water, limestone canyon walls, and the Ottoman-era bridge creates one of Albania's most recognizable natural landscapes.
Setting and experience

The baths sit at the entrance to Lengarica Canyon, where visitors can alternate between soaking in the warm pools and exploring the river gorge. The historic Kadiu Bridge, an 18th-century Ottoman stone arch bridge, spans the river beside the largest pool and serves as the area's visual centerpiece. The surrounding mountains and the nearby Vjosa Valley add to the scenic setting.
Visiting information

The thermal baths are represented by Llixhat e Bënjës – Thermal Baths and are generally accessible year-round. The pools are outdoors and remain open continuously, though facilities are relatively basic compared with developed spa resorts. Because the rocks can be slippery and the river level may vary seasonally, sturdy water shoes are commonly recommended.
Why it is popular

The appeal of Banjat Termale të Benjës lies in the combination of nature, history, and relaxation rather than luxury spa amenities. Visitors often come to photograph the bridge, bathe in the warm mineral pools, and hike or explore Lengarica Canyon, making it one of the signature attractions of the Përmet region.
